……….The world seems so vast. Marc sits alone amid the textures and patterns of material. Everything appears illuminated and clear, but as he gazes upwards towards the infinite unknown, he contemplates what lies outside of his own frame. Is he himself even contained within the sharp, rigid box that encloses his reality?

    .

Marc stares until his eyes ache. He tries to see what is really there, but soon realizes that no matter how intensely he looks, his vision is distorted. The lens through which he gazes deforms his view and he can never see them as they truly are.

And so he tries to escape through ascension. The path upward is dark and mysterious. Marc has trouble leaving what he knows behind, but despite the pull backwards he knows he must persevere and continue his climb. With each step, the world he knows loses its clarity and immediacy.

    .

Marc’s journey is difficult. Rest is essential for conserving his energy. If he is to reach his desired destination, he cannot rush.

Marc is close, but he is also scared. Darkness begins to envelope him. Everything outside recedes into the distance. Although he can still sense the cage around him, Marc watches it fade away. Anticipation yields excitement, though it is still veiled in fear.

Finally, only three things remain. Marc, the darkness, and the light. Although the warm rays massage Marc’s weathered mask, he cannot look directly, for he knows that his eyes are still adjusted to the dark. A brief glance into the light would blind him immediately. Nonetheless, it comforts him. But Marc is still surrounded by the empty darkness of mystery, and so his heart sinks under the weight of uncertainty.
