Wasteland Poster Art 2005

It was the fall of 1999; I was working on an assignment in Munich, Germany for Penthouse Magazine and was scheduled to produce a shoot for Dutch art director, Onno Klein who was working for Penthouse, Holland at the time. Onno and I met in Munich to produce the shoot, and he brought along a beautiful Dutch model from Amsterdam for me to photograph at my hotel.
During the sitting, Onno kept telling me how much he thought I would love the place of his birth and that I would absolutely fall in love with the Red Light District, and the general openness of the culture in The Netherlands, as the attitudes and atmosphere in Holland at the time catered to creative types like myself. He was very convincing, and shortly after returning to the states, I received an email from him to schedule a production in Amsterdam the next time I returned to Europe.
Onno sent me pictures of a variety of Dutch models to select from, and promised to make them available for shoots upon my arrival to perhaps the most creative, liberal, international city in the world.

On my very first trip to Amsterdam, I decided to photograph a friend of the art director and well-known model by the name of Justine Bakker. Knowing that I was new to the city, Justine volunteered to show me around the beautiful quaint city and introduced me to Frans Verlinden, the owner of the famous Winston Hotel and well-known patron of the arts in Holland. Justine realized that if I met Frans, I would have direct access to many artists who worked in and around the city, including Paul Blanca, Micha Klein, Erwin Olaf, Aldert Mantje and others. Frans and I became best friends and he introduced me to his closest friends, two of them happened to be the producer’s of the grand fetish party called WASTELAND.

Frans arranged a meeting for me to meet with Wasteland organizers, Rene Meuessen and Jeroen Oosterhout. They were apparently already familiar with my work and commissioned me to produce a picture for a poster that would symbolize and promote the next Wasteland event. They also invited me to document the event as it occurred twice yearly which resulted in the publication of this monograph a decade later. I was happily introduced to the greatest party on earth.

The book is in memoriam to our dear friend and brother, Frans Verlinden who passed away suddenly and way to soon, in the spring of 2006. It would not have been created if it wasn’t for the assistance and guidance of Frans.Verlinden. We love you Frans, always.

……….The studio is pleased to announce that TW’s most recent book publication entitled WASTELAND, has been printed in France, and first edition copies are making their way to international book stores in the coming days. Unfortunately do to the volcanic eruption that took place in Iceland on Wednesday April 14th, the scheduled book signing at the April 17th Wasteland party in Amsterdam is canceled. The publisher La Musardine, Paris has made arrangements for a representative of the company to attend the party on TW’s behalf and will continue to make books available for sale at the event.

……I first noticed Todd on the streets of Philadelphia as he moved through the bustling city crowds with the assistance of a motor powered wheel chair. Todd and I met socially about two years later, at a body painting fetish party held at a nightclub in Old City that Todd frequented. I was fascinated by his strong sense of character and asked him if he would enjoy being photographed for the pages of Penthouse with one of my best models, Paulette Fallon. His grin was from ear to ear……… he loved the idea and said YES!

Dominance And Submission

We scheduled a couple of meetings to discuss the series of photographs. A fetish shoot made sense, whereby Todd would play the role of a character who is submissive and Paulette would act as the dominant character. We agreed that she should play the role of a nurse, as they play a significant role in Todd’s life. The spontaneity of our thoughts, trust and friendship led to a most unusual series of pictures.

Todd and Paulette were introduced the day of the shoot and couldn’t have gotten along any better. They truly embodied their roles in an improvisational play that was cast as a result of our chance meeting in a night club.

Wasteland Book Release Spring 2010

…..Right about now, thousands of Europeans are doing last minute shopping as they prepare their outfits for the twice yearly pilgrimage to Amsterdam, to attend the massive fetish party Wasteland tomorrow night in Amsterdam. Party organizers predict attendance to peak at around 4000 revelers for the well organized event. Sex In Cars

….As she began the five hour drive heading East along the Pennsylvania Turnpike, Cortney called the studio from her car. She informed the studio assistant that she had just left Pittsburg and would be arriving on schedule for her 3:00 PM photo shoot. She also mentioned she was the proud owner of a seventy something Cadillac, a gift from her latest, very generous sugar daddy.

As the assistant described to TW the exaltation that was expressed about the purchase of the car, he thought perhaps it would be wise to produce pictures of Cortney around the car since she loved it so much.

The assistants got the garage of the studio prepared for her arrival. The lead assistant headed to the prop room to pull backdrops for the shot knowing that TW wanted to create an atmosphere that evoked the mood of sex, since Cortney was known to exude sexual energy when performing before the camera. Cortney like many of us, discovered the joys of sex during those youthful years, in the back seat of a car. Some would argue, auto erotica fueled the drive in movie theater business during it’s heyday……

At Home With Becky Lewis

…..When you enter her home even on the brightest of days it’s dark. The first thing you notice are the black walls. Ms. Lewis chose black because it has a calming effect on her. Perhaps a way to escape the hustle and bustle of Philadelphia’s, Port Richmond neighborhood. She didn’t grow up in the city however, and that’s where her story get’s more interesting.

Becky grew up in the suburbs of Wilmington, Delaware, which she asserts she hated as a child. Her father an emergency room physician. Her mother a registered nurse. She absolutely adores her parents. Good schools, private schools at that, can do great things for the mind of a child. The education opened up many doors to Becky’s inherent creativity. She left the nest early however, just eighteen. College was not in the cards, a yearning for life in a bigger city, she moved to the city of brotherly love.

Fascinated by tattoo’s at an early age, the arrival in to the big city provided her access to Philadelphia’s sizable tattoo culture. Ms. Lewis has become one of the icons of that culture. You’ll be seeing and hearing more about Ms. Lewis soon……

“It’s very hard to believe that it has been almost five years since I hit the ring. Growing up in Philadelphia presented a fairly tough upbringing. So why not take the beating with the guts and the glory? In my early 20’s, I was offered an opportunity to train with a lot of well known names on the Indy circuit. Being a native of South Philly, a lot of the greats that you see today came out of Water and Ritner Streets, where the old ECW venue still remains. Without thinking twice, I fell into training three times a week and doing shows every week for next to peanuts all for the love of the labor involved in the sport.

When your involved in what is traditionally considered a “mans sport”, you got to take it like a man. Eventually, I worked for a pay-per-view women’s federation, a completely different world opened up to me there, more glitz and glamour. As my ring savy progressed, I was getting noticed more and more, even on the streets, it was a good feeling. So I contacted a friend of mine who is the producer for the Howard Stern Show. At that time, I was part of the infamous tag team called “Hells Belles”, including the illustrious Annie Social. We were on a roll.

We both worked very hard to try and make in an industry that is very hard for women to be taken seriously, for the skills we possess in the ring.

……It is hard to believe that a decade has passed since I published my first two books on erotic photography with the charming little bookstore, La Musardine located at 122 rue du chemin-Vert, Paris. Friends in the states informed me about the renowned French publisher, and its hardcore counterpart Alixe Editions. At the time, the late 90’s, I had found an outlet for publishing my most challenging erotic work under the creative direction of Penthouse founder and publisher, Bob Guccione. Many of the pictures that were originally photographed for Penthouse, were later published in my first two volumes Ogasm and OrgasmXL, under the editioral supervision of La Musardine owner Claude Bard and his insightful assistant and Anne Hautecoeur.

My first visit to meet Claude and Anne was a short walk from my apartment in Menilmontant, through the beattiful Pere Lachaise cemetery, were many notibles were laid to rest. A short distance to the unique erotic bookstore, La Musardine is mixed in with a variety of apartments, business’s and delicious French pastry shops, that are located along the busy Parisian street, If you don’t pay careful attention as you got close to the address, you could easily walk past it, as I have on many occasions. Once you enter the shop, hundreds of books lining the walls of the quaint environment overwhelm you. Erotic titles that you would never imagine would ever be published could be found in La Musardine’s extensive library. It was an education in itself, just looking around at all the literary works and photography books published on the subjects of sex and erotica. I knew at once that I found the right publisher for my vision and erotic imagination……..
