……….For this series of pictures I decided to explore the world of public transportation and its importance in our daily lives. In today’s world, public transportation plays a vital role in society; people need to move from one place to another as fast and efficiently as possible. Without an efficient and well-planned system, the functioning of an entire city could be jeopardized.

From a simple taxicab to an entire subway system, these pieces of machinery have to withstand wear without taking a day off. Some have to withstand 16 hours of service per day, regardless of the weather conditions without breaking.

Some might be able to take you to the specific location that you need to go, while others can carry thousands of people at the same time.
Some have been in service only for a couple of months, while others might have traveled thousands of miles. The only common thing is that they are there to help make our lives easier by providing a needed service at an affordable cost.

In these series, I tried to capture motion by using a slow shutter speed in a few of the pictures. By doing so, I was able to show these vehicles as they are intended to be seen, which is in a constant state of movement.

  • Suzaan Talib: The Casting Of Miriam

……….The next time we met it was because of bad luck for him but good luck for me. There was a last minute model cancellation and he needed my help. We only had one night to find a new model and he was really concerned that he wouldn’t be able to cast the right model for his latest production for Penthouse. I was very confident to find someone as I knew it would not be difficult to inspire someone to perform for his work. I introduced TW to a beautiful German prostitute by the name of Miriam.

    .

Editors Note: Suzy and I met in St Pauli (a neighborhood in Hamburg) for dinner to discuss the shoot at Cuneo, my favorite place to dine and one of the finest Italian restaurants in all of Germany. It is located right in the heart of St. Pauli’s Red Light district where Miriam was working as a legal prostitute on the famous Herbertstrasse. Prostitution is legal in Germany and the Herbertstrasse is a street that men peruse to pick a partner for sex. The women sit elegantly in windows at street level, connected to the brothel so that customers can “window shop” in search for an immediate encounter. I first met Miriam while she was working at one of the windows.

Again I was successful and could find models without any problems. TW was impressed about how I managed the complex casting in a very professional way. As a kind of gift for my work I wanted to act as a make up artist for this production to give it a personal touch. A dream of every make up artist became true for me. He agreed, the production again went flawlessly in part because of the highly respected male performer Claudio, whom I had worked with on other production’s in the past. After work was done we deserved to have a party … it was our first “Happy Hour“, but not the last one.

  • The First Time I Met Tony Ward

Suzaan Talib: Pony Ride, Hamburg, 2005

    Posted on October 13, 2010

………..The first time I met Tony Ward was 1999. A German television producer wanted to make a reportage about his special erotic art. It was about a compilation for a Ms. Penthouse girl on girl story. I received a phone call from the producer that his model couldn’t make the shoot and a new model was needed urgently. At this time, I was a kind of insider tip for the mainstream media on anything erotic … fast and professional to find good and reliable models.
I booked Arzu, a beautiful middle eastern girl who was in a previous reportage on German television and organized to bring her over to the Reeperbahn to meet Tony, where he was producing the shoot. When Arzu and I arrived and I saw Tony for the first time, I was immediately stoked . He had purple hair and was dressed in black and white. I was wearing black and white clothes too and had green bangs at the time.

We were quite similar creatures but from the opposite sex.

I was very honored to meet the star photographer Tony Ward from the United States. This phrase became one of the most important when I talked about him. His enthusiasm about my person exceeded all of my expectations as he wanted me to also model for his productions. From that moment on there was a special chemistry between us. During the shoot I was very impressed to see how he works. I saw in the small Polariod not only a photo, but it was like to see a whole story. It was an absolutely successful production. Many more were to follow.

  • Paris: Behind The Scenes With TW

    Title: Seduction 2010

    Posted by Gunsmoke

The night before the event we sat on the balcony of Café Marley at the Louvre overlooking I.M. Pei’s great Pyramid. Every hour on the hour the Eiffel Tower lighted up with a gadzillion tiny white bulbs that shone brightly in the distance. This was a superb way to begin the week of the Paris Art Fair exhibition.

The next day, the mile long line snaked around the Grand Palais just off the Champs Ellyse until 10 PM opening night. Parisian’s and guest’s from afar had come to see the best of the best of the art world from March 16th to March 22nd, 2010. Gallery owners had paid upwards of $50,000 per exhibition space to introduce the world to their stable of artist’s. Paris is the city of Art as well as the city of lights. Opening day, the works of Tony Ward would be reintroduced to that world after a prolonged hiatus.

TW’s gallery owner, Pascal Vanhoecke made sure that his four monumental sized pieces had places of honor in his space. His was the first space that you saw upon walking up to the main exhibit area, and the gallery occupied a place of honor as the first exhibit space inside the main entryway to the enormous exhibit hall.

Crowds swarmed in and out of the gallery proclaiming in French, English and Italian; “shocking!” “stunning!” “incredible!” And it was. Vanhoecke’s gallery featured works from the who’s who of Erotica. Entering the space, one passed a life sized hermaphrodite Barbie doll sculpture, with both breasts and a penis. She only began the adventure into the both humorous and erotic display of fine art painting, drawing and photography. TW’s highlighted piece included a digital montage entitled “L’Aphrodisiaque”, images of black and white erotica from a most recent series and commission. The eye jumps from image to image seeking and finding titillation at every stop. The mammoth piece snarled traffic as buyers stood in amazement, while onlooker’s snapped cell phone pictures and video clips.

Also highlighted was a grainy male torso and female face entitled, “Mark and Laura”, London 2005. The woman’s hand strategically placed on the swollen anatomy of her companion. This piece would later be auctioned off for charity. All charities should have such incredible donations; it should bring thousands.

    Mark and Laura, London 2005

Two film crews and representatives of three newspapers came to meet and interview the “American.” Tony Ward was the foreigner who made sexy chic. A true tribute to the former and future King of Erotica.

  • Alexandra: Hotel Regina- Paris

    Alexandra

……….We agreed to meet for dinner at a tiny quaint restaurant just off the Rue de Rivoli. A charming enough place with fine French cuisine to discuss the shoot we were about to embark upon the following day at my hotel suite in Paris. Alexandra was born and raised in France and lived just outside the ring, so I knew she would pick a good place to dine.

    Hotel Regina

She completely embodied my idea of a beautiful French woman, and possessed the confidence in front of the camera to portray the role I wished for her to play. If there is any hotel that sets the mood for a classic erotic sitting, its Hotel Regina, a place that I frequent when I stay in Paris. If your looking to travel and want good old fashioned French charm, this is the place.

    French Beauty

The grand old hotel is uniquely located at the corner of Rue de Rivoli and Place des Pyramides, facing the Louvre and the famous Tuileries Gardens. All of the bedrooms are furnished in Louis XV and Louis XVI decorative styles, contemporary it is not.

    Alexandra Semi Nude

Alexandra easily felt at home and we quickly moved through a series of poses that she planned. Her experience as a well known nude model for some of France’s finest photographers made my work for the day, quite easy and relaxing.

    Alexandra With Partial Shave

Just remember, Alexandra does not come with the room. The hotel is a BYOB, bring your own babe………………..

……..Ever since I was three years old, my parents’ traveled a lot. From that early age I had a golden opportunity to visit places all around the world. My father’s job as an environmental chemical engineer, required extensive travel and not wanting to miss time spent with his children and wife, he chose to bring us along on many occasions. Mom and dad instilled in me a passion for having an open mind to new and different cultures which eventually led to my yearning to become a photojournalist.

In my early teens, dad introduced me to photography which taught me the importance of developing both verbal and visual communications. Those early influences got me interested in studying photography and communications in college at Temple University and Tyler School of Art. I remember the very first photographic opportunity, when I traveled throughout Southeast Asia for a year with camera in hand like it was yesterday. I spent four months in India where I had the pleasure of studying with the gracious, tender and loving Dalai Lama for an extended period.

Richard Gere happened to be visiting his holiness at the same time, which made the experience additionally memorable. I would have to write a book to express all the other experiences I treasured while visiting the ancient country of India. The 4 months I spent in Nepal were also incredibly memorable. To live on a mountaintop and wake up every morning surrounded by the Himalayas is indescribable.

The time I spent in Thailand was beautifully crazy, if that makes any sense. In Bangkok, The Red Light District brought me a sense of sadness, but the full moon parties were a blast. I enjoyed the islands which were so calm and serene and where I also learned to scuba dive was a cherished moment . How does one sum up year’s worth of experience? Perhaps there will be more stories to tell…..
