IT’S PERSONAL
.
We are now in a time where social presence is at the height of its exposure. Digital interfaces are now overpowering physical ones; internet news publications, video content, and photography are even more accessible and able to be shared by the public through the internet at rates higher than every before. Social networks are greater democratizing the way in which individuals are able to expose their own perspectives and opinions on concerning issues and interests, be it political or creative.
‘Open Source’ platforms such as GitHub allow coders and designers to share personal work and also download the creations of others around the world. Similarly, Instagram allows the every day person to share moments in their life and also is a way for creative entrepreneurs to expose their business to certain target markets. Overall this idea of sharing has undoubtedly escalated throughout the past few decades.
Especially at this moment, public exposure of the self either in the form of creative work or personal life, is becoming more and more feasible and encouraged as a social culture. In juxtaposition, the importance of privacy is also cherished more so than before.
The series of images captures moments of an artist in her most intimate and digitally detached essence.
Personal space is a threshold between the external world and internal mind. It is a place of comfort and also a place for relieving discomfort. Personal space is not a barrier, but a mediator of self expression.
