WHITE

.

There are different interpretations and connotations of white. In this magazine story, I want to show how different emotions and feelings white can express.

The theme “white” germinated from my selfie at a hotel when the sunshine was so perfectly casting a shadow onto the wall. That day, for no reason, I just felt a sense of rebellion in my heart, so I wore all white with a suspender and a studded watch. At noon, when I met with my friends, the idea “all white” flashed on me when coincidentally, all three of us wore white, although in different style.

White, is like a blank A4 paper, you can weave stories of any style on it. In this assignment, I didn’t style the models, but let the models express themselves. The next day, I asked these two girls to bring their favorite white outfit. During the photoshoot, I first told them to show the emotions they want to exhibit through their outfit. Not a surprise, the first things came into their mind are innocence and purity like a princess. While as the photoshoot goes on, I also figured out that there can be some aggressiveness and fragility nature like a woman. At the end, when making myself a model, I exhibit the infinite illusion that white brings, because of its property of “nothing”.

Using light is a really hard technique that takes a long time to practice and get used to it, but I enjoy all the possibilities that the single color, white tells from photography.
