As historian Steven Conn writes, “There are a million stories in the naked city.” The city is a microcosm of petite vignettes. Some are ironic, others more poignant. All are undeniably important. In my narratives, I focus on the American city because each of its stories falls on a spectrum confined by progress’s bounds; for the city is a place of engagement and togetherness as much as it is one of polarization and blight. Through my photography I expose these qualities with the hope that ultimately inequality will become less ubiquitous and immobility less permanent.
