February

.

It’s a good cold morning here in Louisville, Kentucky and I am excited to announce the release of my song “February” officially out on all the classic platforms we know, love and put up with.
You can find it by just searching February Kathryn Brooks wherever you listen. And if you don’t see it there, let me know and I’ll sort that out!

I wish this song all the prosperity a simple folk tune recorded over the past month in the beginnings of my home studio can have.

I’ve been carrying ‘February’ around for many a February. Thank you to everyone who stuck around for this moment. Thank you to @natebrookstunes for essentially coproducing by helping with recording, for mixing and for moral support. Thanks to Max Erskine for mastering this as well as some other tunes I’ve been grateful to be featured on this past year.

There is more to come in the next few months! I’ll give a fairer warning for all that! But the uncertainty of timing led to this happy coincidence of the song releasing on the first snowy Friday of February, like it was planned all along. Thank you to all who give it a listen! Please enjoy ‘February’! Cheers!

Cold cold is February

Short and never sweet

It holds a multitude of days I can’t think about

While snow piles up in the street

Last summer I loved you but it’s been awhile

Now my heart’s beginning to roam

I knew when you left the country

You wouldn’t be coming home

Wrote you a letter

Last february

Telling you how I’ve been

You wrote back a short note

Saying you loved me

And promised to see me again

Cold cold is February

Short and never sweet

It holds a multitude of days I can’t think about

While snow piles up in the street

When I’m sleeping

I hear you breathing

But all I feel are the sheets

I turn to hold you and feel nothing but open air

All the bad feelings repeat

If you knew

If you knew

How much I loved you

Would you cross

Cross back over the sea

I’d like to believe

I’m worth the journey

But it seems you’ve built a home out there without me

Cold cold is February

Short and never sweet

It holds a multitude of days I can’t think about

While snow piles up in the street

When it all comes to an end

The hardest part feels over

The winter days are passing away

Springs around the corner

But until that first warm ray of sun

I’ll think about you lover

The warmth you bring with your memory

My dreams of us back together
