The PPCRN Brand is a donut brand whose marketing technique is appealing to edgy and well dressed youth. PPCRN does specializes in fancy donuts, but PPCRN is more than just a gourmet snack line—it promotes a lifestyle of creativity and self-expression. (It is important to remember in marketing that no matter what product is being sold, a brand must convince its consumers that there is a greater importance to their products. For example, Urban Outfitters is not just clothing, it is a creative and socially aware community. Similarly, PPCRN does not just represent donuts; it is fashionable, trendy, and socially conscious.) Often, proceeds of PPCRN go to supporting arts in urban high schools in Philadelphia. The photo advertisements for PPCRN are therefore edgy, humorous, and minimal. Though PPCRN is not technically a clothing line, it is so well respected in the fashion world that you might find these pages printed lovingly in the glossies, particularly Vogue’s October issue, which will be dedicated entirely to PPCRN in 2018 as tribute to its philanthropy and fashionable ads. We at PPCRN are so excited by this.
The taglines on each image invite consumers to imagine themselves as part of the PPCRN community: happy food for happy people. Trendy people eat PPCRN. And finally, #WhatsYourPPCRN, inviting viewers of the advertisement to consider: How do I relate to PPCRN? Do I want some donuts? I think I’m pretty hungry, and also so well dressed!
